Macclesfield FC Shares Details of Youth Development Opportunities at SAS Daniels Business Breakfast
Macclesfield FC gave attendees an insight into the superior opportunities for young footballers locally, and shared Academy successes to date, at the recently held Business Breakfast hosted by SAS Daniels LLP at the Leasing.com Stadium.
The Macclesfield and Congleton offices of SAS Daniels invited special guest speaker Mark O’Leary, Head of Football Development at Macclesfield FC, to speak at their very well attended business networking event on 19 September.
Mark outlined the highly impressive offering for the players from the age of 3 who are welcomed into the Macclesfield FC Academy, which now comprises 600 players up to the age of 23, 40 teams, and 158 trophies.
“Our college system for our 16-19 year olds is run in-house, with 90 girls and boys each day coming in having their breakfast, attending lessons in bespoke education classrooms, gym area, training four times per week and playing twice a week.
“I work with an 18 plus age group, with 180 footballers who leave the Macclesfield FC ground to then attend our site at Preston and study for their degrees, whilst playing for our under 21s, under 23s, our reserves and the first team.
“All you want to see is a little seven-year-old get better, and we’ll do everything we can so that girl or boy can become the best player in the world. I am really proud that we have had 18 female players through our system in the last three years already play for the women’s first team, and we have had 22 of the lads training or playing with the men’s first team. Last night was the FA Youth Cup, we won last night 5:1 against Warrington and are now into the next round. Whatever we are doing as a club is working.”
As with previous SAS Daniel’s business breakfasts, the event was very well attended by members of the local business community, who enjoyed engaging with other attendees to reconnect with existing contacts and connect with new ones, over hot beverages and breakfast rolls.
Steven Percy, partner and head of commercial property at SAS Daniels said:
“I would like to thank all of our guests for attending and to Mark for taking time out from his hectic schedule to provide an uplifting insight into the opportunities on offer for aspiring footballers living in and around Macclesfield. Attendees couldn’t fail to be impressed with the sheer level of commitment to youth development and learn more about the very many Macclesfield FC Academy successes.”
Justine Clowes, partner, head of private client and joint head of the Macclesfield office at SAS Daniels, commented:
“SAS Daniels is extremely proud to be an ardent supporter of such an inspirational facility, and of the passion of those involved in running the Academy. We have had very positive feedback that our business events go a long way in highlighting the incredible work of locally based organisations such as Macclesfield FC, whilst affording our guests the opportunity to engage with other members of the business community at the same time.”
