Macclesfield opticians helps raise over £3,000 for community causes through seasonal events

Specsavers Macclesfield has wrapped up a successful season of festive fundraising, helping to raise over £3,000 for grassroots charities through two heartwarming events.

The locally owned and run store kicked off in November by supporting the Rossendale Trust’s fundraiser. They contributed a Christmas hamper to the raffle at the glamorous evening event, which featured a fashion show, with Rossendale Trust residents taking centre stage.

The event also had live music from party band The Rockefellers, alongside Christmas stalls and a raffle. The occasion raised just over £3,000 for the trust.

“The Rockefellers band created such a fun atmosphere for the models and the Christmas stalls were absolutely lovely,”

said Leia Murray, community coordinator for Specsavers Macclesfield

“It was wonderful to see the community come together for such an important cause.”

Building on this momentum, Specsavers Macclesfield hosted its own mini Christmas market outside the store on 11th December. Team members Chrissie Parton and Jenna Higginbotham ran the pop-up stall, offering a cake sale and Spin the Wheel game with prizes, including Specsavers branded items and golden discount tickets. Customers enthusiastically embraced the lively atmosphere, while staff added to the seasonal cheer by sporting Christmas jumpers.

The cake sale proved particularly popular, with homemade treats, including brownies, cakes and gingerbread trees baked by team member Amanda Earlam flying off the table. The event raised £150 for East Cheshire Eye Society, a charity Specsavers Macclesfield has proudly supported for many years.

Leia added:

“We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved this December. Engaging with our community isn’t just about providing excellent eye and hearing care, it’s about building trust, supporting causes that matter and giving back to the area we serve.”

“From supporting the Rossendale Trust fundraiser to hosting our mini Christmas market, these events reflect our commitment to Macclesfield. The response from customers and the local community has been heartwarming, and we’re thrilled to have helped raise over £3,000 for such deserving causes. It’s been a joy to make a real difference.”

Specsavers Macclesfield’s commitment to community engagement strengthens its reputation as a trusted, caring local business. By supporting initiatives like the Rossendale Trust and the East Cheshire Eye Society, the store demonstrates that its values extend far beyond the shop floor.
